1912 Hillel and Rachel Davidoff left Russia with their five children and emigrated to Geneva, Switzerland where in1912, Hillel Davidoff opened up a small shop in the vicinity of the “Place des Philosophes” to sell among other specialty items, cigars and custom cigarettes. In 1931, Zino Davidoff, son of Hillel, married his wife Marthe Fromer and took over a cigar shop in Lausanne. In 1936 Zino returned to Geneva to take over his Father’s business which had relocated to “Rue de la Confédération” (and featured the world’s first humidor; a climate controlled cellar to store cigars) and in 1939 the father and son duo took over a new shop on “Rue du Marché”. From that moment on, the “Davidoff shop” would always be known for having the finest cigars available for the most discerning palates, and would be sure to always have something for everyone - offered with the highest level of service.
The philosophy of a Davidoff Shop has not changed. In our New York Davidoff Stores, we’re very fortunate to have one of the most exciting assortments of premium cigars available in any retail shop. Our humidors feature the finest hand-made premium cigars available in the United States, and while they’re not all featured on our website, that does not mean that you don’t have access to them. Just as Zino Davidoff created the “Chateau Series” in 1947 made by Hoyo de Monterrey at the time, and only available in his shop; we have an impressive collection of Exclusive Blends made by the industry’s leading manufacturers available only in our Davidoff New York Stores.
