One of my favorite cigars of all time happens to be a La Aurora. It’s the La Aurora Choix Supreme. Although it’s a simple Corona-shaped cigar, it’s a masterpiece. This is the cigar that Don Fernando Leon, the family’s patriarch, smoked every day. Unfortunately he passed away this past April, but his legacy lives on in these cigars. The beautiful Cameroon wrapper adds a wonderful spiciness to this medium to full-bodied smoke. It is truly a gem, and only available at the Davidoff New York stores.

The La Aurora Preferidos are Perfecto shaped cigars available in a few different wrappers. This was the original shape the company made back in 1903 - one popular in those times. The original blend used Cameroon for the wrapper, and the “Platinum Tubed” Preferido still uses Cameroon. I happen to love the “Gold Tube” which uses a Dominican-grown Corojo wrapper. It is wonderfully rich and medium-full bodied with almost a chewy characteristic to the smoke and a great balance of earth, woodiness, and some spice too. If you want to try all the wrappers, pick up the “treasure pack”.

I’m sure you’ve noticed we’ve slowed down on events. Summer is always a tough time for everyone, so we try and give you a break. But, we haven’t slowed down on SPIFF Wednesdays. So, please join us at the Madison Avenue Store every Wednesday night!!!

Finally, as you know it’s difficult to find a nice place to sit and relax with a great cigar and a drink. However, the Carnegie Club on 56th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues is a solution to that problem. With a great selection of wines and spirits, as well as some light fare and great entertainment, the Carnegie Club is a fabulous retreat to enjoy a cigar. Although there is a $10 fee to smoke your own cigars - they’ve just extended a very generous offer to our customers. If you purchase a cigar at either Davidoff store, you may bring that cigar along with your receipt to the club and the fee will be waived! That’s right! Just bring your “same day’s receipt” to the club and you will not be charged to enjoy your cigar. However, once you finish that one and you’re craving cigar # 2, take a look at their incredible cigar menu for just the right thing!
