It's hard to believe that June is already over and Fourth of July Weekend is here. In the Northeast we've been plagued with rain and wind that has put a significant damper not only on enjoying the best of summer activities but also enjoying the best of summer cigars. Of course I'm not suggesting that cigars are seasonal. One can smoke what they want when they want. But, there's just something about smoking a big, fat cigar out by the pool, or around a grill, that makes summer just a little more "summery".
Certain cigars are more appropriate for certain summer gatherings than others. When all your friends come over and fill your back yard, you may not be willing to part with your most expensive smokes. And, that's ok! There are some great "back yard burners" to share and enjoy in the summer sun that won't break your wallet or your heart when you find it half smoked and sitting on a red party plate with a piece of burger and some macaroni salad.
Hafe a safe and Happy Fourth of July Weekend!

This cigar combines some long filler tobaccos as well as some smaller pieces to create the "sandwich" of tobaccos in the filler. Still hand rolled with a binder and a wrapper, the Private Stock line is an easy smoking medium bodied cigar.

This cigar really should be more expensive. But, it's not! Lucky us! It's mellow, silky, and elegant with great flavors of cedar, light spice and toast. It's perfect for a hot summer day!

Spicy and full bodied with rich bold flavors. This should be a post-burger cigar, not pre-burger. And will indeed go wonderfully with something ice cold and carbonated.

Once your guests have had their fill of YOUR food, drinks, and overwhelming hospitality... there's always the "plop"; that moment when you fall back into your favorite lawn chair with an ice cold beverage in one hand and a cigar in the other, and relax. Now it's REALLY time to enjoy a cigar... at rest.

This Double Corona begins creamy and just builds and builds throughout the shape. Different flavors and notes enter in and out of the flavor throughout the smoke keeping the experience both exciting and engaging.

If it were possible to smoke the Chocolate Cappuccino cupcake from Crumb's Bakery on Madison Avenue, it'd probably taste a lot like this cigar. All the classic Nicaraguan flavors and perhaps more important - the classic Padron flavors are very present in this cigar. Cocoa, coffee, nuts, a touch of sweetness... it's a must have!

Wow - did we have fun the past couple weeks!!! If you missed these events, you REALLY missed out. Fortunately, there're lots of pictures and lots of coverage on my blog, The " Good Life Diaries".
Our 2 days of events with the Costa Rica Cigar Company were a fabulous way to welcome this new line of cigars into our humidors. We had a cigar roller on hand, along with some great hors d'oeuvres and Johnnie Walker Blue Label to compliment the very tasty smokes.
Our Zino Platinum "Red Carpet" event was a huge success!!! The pictures will certainly speak for themselves. Everyone had an amazing time and enjoyed fabulous food, drinks, and of course Zino Platinum Cigars. Congratulations to "Harry"... The grand prize winner of the Zino Platinum Cavern Humidor!
Finally, we had a very special event with the Quesada Family. Manuel Quesada, of the MATASA factory in the Dominican Republic and maker of Fonseca Cigars, was in town along with his lovely wife Sandra and his "young ones", daughters Raquel and Patricia, niece Esther, and nephews Jose Manuel and Hostos. In commemoration of MATASA's 35 years making premium cigars, they're releasing a new limited edition cigar. This time however, the cigar was created by the "young ones"... the 5th Generation of the Quesada family. It is set to launch at the end of the summer. Only 800 boxes of 20 cigars will be produced and based on the response of the 75 or so guests who got a chance to preview the smoke... they will NOT be around long!!!
