On Monday June 30, we'll be hosting another incredible dinner at Bayard's in downtown Manhattan. We're very excited to have our Master Blender, Mr. Hendrik Kelner, joining us for this special evening which will feature live jazz, an open bar, a cigar roller, an incredible meal, and a Davidoff ‘Grande Reserve' assortment of cigars throughout the evening. At the conclusion of the meal, we'll retire to the ‘Blue Room' to enjoy some Davidoff Cognac and the new Davidoff 2008 Limited Edition ‘Robusto Extra'. Most cigar smokers I know already have a cigar cutter but few have a great cigar cutter - I mean a REALLY great cutter. There are two basic styles of cuts - open and closed. An open cut removes the cap equal to the entire circumference of the cigar without removing the cap's base that holds the wrapper on the cigar itself. For this type of cut, a guillotine style cutter is required. The single guillotine style is available in both our Davidoff brand as well as the Zino brand. The Double Guillotine is a bit more popular and available in many different styles and finishes including our Zino Double Guillotine, Zino Metal Cutter, Davidoff Double Blade Cutter, and our newest Zino Platinum Cigar Snips. Additionally, our Davidoff Cigar Scissors and Zino Cigar Scissors are a slightly more elegant tool for making a straight cut.

A closed cut removes a smaller portion of the cap, keeping part of the cap intact on the head of the cigar. The most popular tool for this style cut is a Punch Cut or Bullet Cut. Our classic AVO Punch Cutter comes in a standard single blade model as well as a double blade giving you a slightly larger opening in the cap. In our Davidoff lineup, we have several options. The Davidoff Round Cutter is reminiscent of a fine time piece without a bracelet. The three round blades offer different size cuts to pick from. The Davidoff Cigar Knives also offer the same three blades along with a handy pocket knife, scissors and nail file.
